The Champion Mindset: 25.2 - E.344
When your entire competitive season hinges on making semifinals cutlines, what's stopping you from giving everything you've got? In this no-holds-barred analysis of CrossFit Open 25.2, the Misfit Athletics coaches dive deep into the psychology behind workout redos and the disconnect many athletes experience between their stated goals and their actions.
Through real examples from the Misfit community, we explore how seemingly small decisions—like whether to redo a workout when you're hovering near qualification cutoffs—reveal profound truths about competitive mindset. As one coach bluntly puts it: "If your goal is to qualify for semi-finals and you are potentially on the fringe with a workout to go, why would you ever leave that to chance?" This episode isn't just about workout strategy; it's about honest self-assessment and ensuring your behaviors align with your ambitions.
The episode features detailed performance analysis comparing the 2022 version of this workout with this year's results, showing modest improvements at all levels of the leaderboard. We celebrate standout performances from Brandon True, Paige Semenza, and Jack Strum while providing actionable insights for athletes of all levels. Perhaps most valuable is the discussion of what makes 25.2 such an excellent benchmark—accessible enough for everyone to participate while clearly demonstrating the enormous gap between everyday athletes and elite performers.
Looking ahead to 25.3, we discuss the leaked workout format potentially featuring rowing, wall walks, and deadlifts, examining the strategic implications and addressing concerns about competitive integrity when workouts leak early. Whether you're gunning for semifinals or simply trying to surpass your personal goals, this episode delivers the perfect blend of technical analysis, psychological insight, and competitive wisdom to help you finish the Open strong.

We're all misfits, all right, you big, big bunch of misfits. You're a scrappy little misfit, just like me Biggest bunch of misfits I ever said either.
Speaker 2:Good morning, misfits. You are tuning into the 25.2 Open Recap Podcast where we go over the workout in detail uh, read off some some misfit leaderboards, give away some free shit and then we do a little life chat at the end for the uh, for the faithfuls. Um, before we get into that, a little bit of housekeeping here. Um, we've mentioned it over the the course of the last few weeks, but if you have your sites set on online semifinals um, make sure you get in touch with us so we can give you the code for semifinals prep Um. If you are not a misfit yet or you were considering following that program, um, then you can just go to our fitter storefront, which you can find um in the link in bio um, and purchase that program that.
Speaker 2:A few people reach out to me this week and they're like I'm kind of on the fence about when I should start it. If you are really locked in on the open and you want to start it a week late, that's most certainly not a big deal, but you'll want to get in touch with me directly just to make sure that you're following the way that you should. My email is just coach at misfit athleticscom If you need that free discount code. Um, also off season block one, uh, when we get into the strength bias and conditioning bias programs so you can personalize your stuff a little bit more. Get started on Monday, march 24th. Um, that is the same time that the next Misfit affiliate phase starts. You're going to be able to get a two-week free trial once off-season block one starts, and that's going to be the same as always for Misfit affiliate. Go to teammisfitcom, click on sign up now and you will see your options for StreamFit, sugarwad and PushPress to get two weeks for free. Yeah, gentlemen, what's going on? How?
Speaker 2:we doing you're looking at it, man two-thirds of the way through the open and I almost opened with happy, happy final week, but it's like only kind of the final week from the competitive coaching side of things. It's not the final week, um, until we. Well, I guess it's tuesday, so it's the final week, because seven days from now all will be right in the world, right?
Speaker 3:yeah the uh the some Right. Yeah the uh the some of these times are fucking stupid.
Speaker 2:Yes, they are. Yes, I agree. Um, there's a? Uh, there's a top, top secret um person that's not on the leaderboard right now that we'll talk about here in a couple of weeks, and their time was real fast. It was real fast and then they redid it and it got real faster, um, so, yeah, I'm broken all the way through a couple of trips on the on the dubs would have been up there for the for the first place this year.
Speaker 2:Um, all right, so we are going to be reading from the hashtag misfit athlete leaderboards here. Seb, you got that uh one through ten wheel ready to go here. Um, I will say that we won't do repeat winners and then, if I give you free shit already, um, you don't win. Hunter, I'm so sorry, although you're not on the list this week. So we'll get into that. We'll wait. We'll get into the recap here in a little bit. So go to your competition dashboard, gamescrossfitcom, go to custom hashtags and type in a misfit athlete and add that you still got another week to be entered into this um to get some free shit, and then we will do next week. There'll be two rounds of it, so there'll be 25.3 winners and then overall misfit winners um, so make sure you go in and add that hashtag.
Speaker 2:I know a lot of you were panicking last week. There seems to be a lag with it. So, like a lot of people like scrambled to get it done and they're like it's not showing up. It's not showing up, um, but it's probably showing up now. And if you get this done earlier this week, um, you want to be on the leaderboard? Uh, it'll be good to go for 25.3. We will start with the gentleman first um, two weeks in a row. First place, brandon True. Another shout out. Brandon's a remote client of mine and looked a little too good in his five minute and I think, 26, 27, second version. So we redid it yesterday and got it down to 519. And he did not look so good, that's not, I mean, like he died, did you?
Speaker 2:say his first time was I think 526 527, something like that. Almost a minute faster than the last time, than than 2022, um and then retested 10 seconds about 10 seconds faster.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and he was way ahead too, his body language to me. I saw a five minute-ish time in there. You just see this happen enough times and you watch enough videos. That, like the body language and the timing as you make your way into the last chunk, kind of tells a bit of a story. And he went to basically complete failure. He squats like 500 and some pounds and I think he did three sets on the last barbell, so that tells you the shape, what was going on in his internals. Um so, brandon, true, brad miller, taylor sanders so Brandon True, brad Miller, taylor Sanders, austin Spencer, wyatt, mel Shout out, wyatt holding it down for the Mel Enslin household while McKenna's in the boot making sure they get onto that leaderboard there. I actually gave him a little bit of advice. We were four for four yesterday in my coaching group on redo, so I was pretty happy with that. Uh, kyle moline, adam salmani, anthony greco, huh. So I'm talking about, we can talk about him later.
Speaker 3:He's on my shit list currently oh, let's go, tony, he's not ryan and kyle cross.
Speaker 2:Yeah, play it up, though he's on your shit list for entertainment yeah, he's on your shit list For entertainment's sake. Yeah, he's on my shit list, just for entertainment, he's not actually. All right, seb what you got.
Speaker 1:Random number generator.
Speaker 2:I got number one, brandon. True, all right, brandon, we'll give you some free stuff. I guess you don't need to email me. You can Discord me, you can text me, you can do whatever you got to do. We'll send you some free shit congratulations, carrier pigeon.
Speaker 3:Should have sent. Should have sent, that should a western union all right.
Speaker 2:The top of the ladies leaderboard is none other than page simenza. We also had a little bit of a redo action there. Um wasn't really as much for leaderboard sake as how's my shoulder? Um the again, the body language didn't look very tired when she was doing it the first time and we're about a month out a little less than a month out for for the mayhem classic. So I thought, for peace of mind for the shoulder, with the pressing, with the bar muscle ups and all the pulling gymnastics, that it made sense to go back in there and take a bit of a bigger bite. So, paige Semenza, lindsay Hoffman, kelly Clark, blair Chaney, meredith Reyes, leah Murphy, elena Pomerisi, Adrian Winges, ashley Drabicki and Ashley Michael. Well done, seb, what you got.
Speaker 1:It's here, so people don't think I'm rigging this.
Speaker 2:We wouldn't rig it for Brandon Wow.
Speaker 1:Wow, that was close, adrian, you were so close.
Speaker 2:Damn Ashley Drabicki. Ashley, my email is coach at misfitathleticscom. Send me your sizes, send me your address. She's definitely won. Before too, she has.
Speaker 3:Yes, I've called her before. And last but not least, the CrossFit MF. You stick on the leaderboard for years it's true.
Speaker 2:Crossfit MF Misfit Jim Portland leaderboard for 25.2. Do you know who won this? Did you already look?
Speaker 3:no, I don't do you have a guess I want to say I feel like Jack put up a decent time.
Speaker 2:Yes, from the top row, atta boy he did my man, Jack Strum, Rachel Rogers, Michael Leone, Pebble Wood, Lizzie Bell, Bruno Kyle Pinkham, Timothy Timothy. Sorry, Tim Fuck.
Speaker 3:Timothy.
Speaker 2:Campanaro, Jennifer Bossy, Nick Whitaker and luke ravenel there were so many in the wheel.
Speaker 3:There were so many good efforts and performances on on that from the gym members oh, are we gonna get a eight nine split again?
Speaker 2:thank goodness we can't have nick whittaker winning two weeks in a row. Jen bossy yes jen I have fucking.
Speaker 3:Jen was in the hurt locker at the end of this thing. She was. She was rolling around. She hammered after she finished her bar muscle up. She just slung 15 unbroken reps yes, she did yeah, nick witt had didn't have a bar muscle up when he did that in 2022 and finished the workout, tim had a strategy adjustment. I would say when he retested it yesterday in the afternoon Way more controlled, way better execution. Shout out to him Rachel crushed it, mike crushed it, but Jack, that a a boy resident gymnast mark I hope.
Speaker 3:I hope jack snips this and and sends it to mark via all platforms yeah, let's that's.
Speaker 2:You know we're we're doing a recap podcast on a redo. We'll get into the workout a little bit, but we've got a little a little room to breathe here. Um, we have a. We have a coach here at Misfits in Portland. Um, the plays he plays mental gymnastics, jack is good at the, the physical gymnastics and Mark Mark will basically put himself in a situation where he talks shit and if he beats you, you obviously he continues to talk shit, but if he loses to you, he's like it.
Speaker 2:I've been eating doritos for the past three weeks, yeah exactly he'll say you beat a fat guy in a crossfit workout, congratulations. And jack I, I would say, is probably his most recent victim. We've, jack and I've had some sessions in the office just talking through how to deal with this situation, cause it's like he smashes him and he's excited and Mark then doesn't like, doesn't give him anything for it. So that can be tough, that can be tough. Um, so, yeah, yeah, the uh, you gotta, we'll, we'll, we'll give a shout out to Jack and we'll tell Mark, um, it's time to put the Doritos down.
Speaker 3:Um, we know that that you're riding your bike in the snow for some reason, um, very slowly, and riding your snowmobile. Let's get back in the gym. Let did. In his defense, he did. He did do the workout Honestly. I want that to be uh. I want that to be the people's open for the gym. Jack V Mark, I think that's the uh right, I think the people it was, it was, it was set up.
Speaker 2:It was set up to be there. And then we caught Mark on a downswing.
Speaker 3:He did, he did pretty good, I don't know what his I was, but he got six bar muscle-ups this time, so we're proud of the big man for getting over a pull-up bar.
Speaker 2:Yes, In reality. Yes, we are proud of him. For the sake of the podcast, we got to put a little WWE spin on the situation. Speaking of that, what's going on with Tony? Speaking of that?
Speaker 3:what's going on with Tony? Tony wants to qualify for semifinals. Tony makes a very strong first attempt at the workout and under what I would say, without getting into detail, suboptimal conditions due to work and life stress, messages me in the morning yesterday, before scores had finalized, and said 98th percentile, which you need to be in the top two percentile for your age group, based on I got like a rant inside a rant here but based on the unofficial bar bend numbers, because, unless you guys can correct, has CrossFit published the actual cut lines anywhere, like obviously visible?
Speaker 2:I don't think we hit the minimums. I think it's 200 people for the masters.
Speaker 3:Okay, so well. No, it's well not for his the age division. So his age group has more than 200. It's like top 500. According to Barpen it was, I think I was just looking at it here.
Speaker 3:According to Barpen, the top 529. And the rant inside the rant here is why the fuck CrossFit doesn't immediately post the cut lines somewhere extraordinarily obvious is beyond me. Post the cut lines somewhere extraordinarily obvious is beyond me. Make make everybody do some some fucking leaderboard math and figure out what the top two percentile is. But so we'll assume that 529 is the cut line for 50, for 35 to 39 men. Uh, and tony, when he said top 2%, it was like well, you're currently sitting in about 560th out of a necessary 529. So and this is you know, before scores close, you have to imagine there's that big influx of scores and his 802, 803 initial 806 maybe what did he tell me? Whatever, just just 804, and which was a little bit slower than she said, 30 seconds slower than 2022 messages me, says 98th percentile. What do you think? And in my head, what I, what I? This is not. This is not. Tony, I love you to death.
Speaker 3:I'm making a point because you are not the only athlete to to do this. If your goal is to qualify for semi-finals and you are potentially on the fringe of that qualification with a workout to go, why in god's name would you ever leave that to like, well, like, let's just see if this score is good enough. So the follow-up question is immediately just, can you go faster? Because if you shave 10 seconds off this workout and move up seven spots and that's the best you can do, well, then we know that that was the best you could do. We didn't leave it to chance. That's just where the chips fell this year. If we're saying, well, I don't want to redo the workout, then that's it one and that's. And he did. To be clear, tony did not say that, but the. The implication is that I don't want to redo this workout because I don't want to. It hurt, it's stressful, whatever. All those things which are, which are valid. But when the actions don't line up with the words I want to qualify for semifinals, but I've just, this workout will probably be fine.
Speaker 3:On to week three, that's where me, as the coach, I'm like okay, so like, let's what is. Is that the goal? Is it the? Is it the shiny object goal? And this is the. This is just so common with athletes who you know, we've talked about it.
Speaker 3:When it's like I want to qualify for the CrossFit Games, it's like what do you mean by that? You want to walk out onto the field wearing CrossFit Games, attire next to the fittest men and women on earth, or you want to sleep nine hours a night, track your macros like a maniac train, eat, sleep, recover, ignore your friends, family and do all of the things that are necessary to get there, like that's. That's actually what you're, what I'm hearing, whereas you're what you're saying is is like I want to. I want to stand on the field and, you know, be a CrossFit Games athlete. You know, be a crossfit games athlete. Um and and when the actions, and when, like the the actions don't necessarily line up with like. Well, if, can you go faster.
Speaker 3:And lo and behold, seven minutes and 32 seconds later, tony has shaved 30 seconds off his time and is 30 seconds slower, in theory, two seconds faster than 2022. And he's now sitting inside just inside 500. So his 490th some odd place that he was in yesterday morning would have almost certainly shuffled him into six 700th place outside looking in, you got one more workout to go. Outside looking in, you got one more workout to go. You get a workout that has movements that are not in your wheelhouse, that are, you know that. That has a. That has a movement that is a goat for you, whatever it happens to be.
Speaker 3:And all of a sudden, your semifinals, crossfit games, qualification dreams are gone because you didn't want to redo a workout. And again, tony, I love you. This is not. This is not a little bit of tough love, but it's more just. This is this is such a common thing for athletes of all at all competitive places that it's just worth kind of saying coin for the athlete. Instead, it's like. My response is according to Barben, you need to be here. You're currently here. Your score is probably not going to hold If you think you can go faster and therefore move yourself up the numerical leaderboard and the goal is to qualify for the next stage of competition. Like this is not. This is the. This is the simplest flowchart of if then statements that has ever existed in humanity. Right, it's like you redo the workout, you do it again and the worst case scenario is that For?
Speaker 3:videos. Uh, he didn't take a video. Yes, if, if they took them all, I'll watch them for sure. Uh had to watch justin's first attempt at some of the slowest burpees in history, at which point he finally redid his workout for the first time in eight years and hammered it um. And then tony, uh, he, he, he had to submit a video for for this one, so I'll I'll, I'll watch that for sure, but, um, I ask so.
Speaker 2:So, tony, I'm going to play good cop for a second Sort of sort of. There's a spectrum of partial to full lobotomy that takes place the day that 25.1 or 26.1 or 22.1 is announced. 25.1 or 26.1 or 22.1 is announced, you don't always know how much of the frontal lobe has been lopped off of your athlete, but some of it has they. All you know what I mean, so so. So what I do personally is I ask for videos and I audit that video honestly, like I put it on mute, and from a very like technical like aspect I try not to think as much about what I know about the athlete.
Speaker 2:It's just like what does the body language look? Like? What in god's name is that rest period? Like, did you have a bowl of skittles there that you needed to eat in the middle of this workout? Like, what the fuck are you doing? Um, and I base it on things that I can say to them that then they can go visually watch, so it doesn't seem like like I had. I had an athlete. That that is basically. I went through the same thing with the athlete. It's like should I? I'm like I'm not even going to justify that with the answer that I want to give.
Speaker 3:Right, it's like you're fucking kidding me yeah, the answer that I will take the test again and it's obvious that you can go faster.
Speaker 2:And you have these huge goals and you work your ass off. What the fuck? What are we talking about? Yes, get your ass out there and redo this workout. Find that fucking dog, you know come on. What are you?
Speaker 3:talking about, but that message was baked into the question if they can go faster.
Speaker 2:I tell them that they can go faster. Yeah, because I just the headspace there is so wild for so many athletes and again some people. It gets easier for them over time, but I don't know, man, there's a lot of really good athletes that lose their fucking marbles around this stuff. So I have, I have given up on the like, let's, let's, let's talk about this through like, like reasoning, basically like it was just not gonna, we're not gonna go there. Um, so obviously redo. You're right over there, kid, sounds like I'm actually telling Tony currently.
Speaker 3:It's telling Tony that this will be a learning experience on this week's podcast, and I love him so. Make sure you get an old secretary After Daddy puts the belt away and gives him a hug and says I love you. Don't make me ever do that to you again, but I love you. That's the.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it sounded like in a movie when they make fun of stenographers, where they're not really typing anything. They're like. Someone says like one word oh yeah.
Speaker 2:That was good, Added a little color to the podcast, All right. So obviously we have a redo here. There isn't like the most to talk about in terms of breaking down the workout, because everyone kind of knows what it is. Um, you know you, you do some stuff that's like marginally fun. That would have been like a really big deal seven years ago. That like isn't anymore. And then the workout reveals itself to be your legs don't feel great. Your arms don't feel great. Your heart rate's very high. Now do 15 bar muscle ups. Pretend you're gonna jump rope and then survive a moderately heavy barbell on the thruster. You did the workout hunter. What do you? What do you have to say about it from the experiential side? Because I did it with push jerks and my triceps did not like the combination of locking out that barbell that quickly and then doing bar muscle-ups person to ask about that, I would say that, uh, both physical and psychological capacity to try hard that workout was was extraordinarily low for me yesterday.
Speaker 3:Uh, doing that in an open gym. So I got about 17 different actual, reasonable excuses as to why I felt pretty bad for myself. But uh, like I finished the workout, I took a seat on my barbells. Did not look the same as someone like a gen bossy who hammers out 15 unbroken heavy thrusters to finish her workout or or something like that.
Speaker 3:So, um so, what'd you leave 30 seconds on the table, a minute um, I mean, based on what my training has been like as of recently, that's probably like, yeah, maybe 30 or 60 seconds Definitely was not expecting to be anywhere near my first time. I really paced it. Probably, I don't know, maybe it was perfect for where I'm at currently, but it was just it. It was not a particularly strong effort that I'm that I'm proud of, but uh, like I said, the the give a shit factor was really not there for a uh, Monday workout. Very much a check in the box, cause I you know members, members are doing it. I'm encouraging members to do it, I'm going a score up there sure sometimes it's, sometimes it's.
Speaker 2:That is what it is, so it's one of those workouts at the bottom of the rx leaderboard you did. Yeah, I, I put in. I did the workout with push jerks because that that many squats would would ruin my back. But, um, I put in my score, just as the pull-ups and the double unders, and, um, I'm hoping I can play long enough in 25.3. Um, yeah, peggy and james hadley, I'm coming for you. I just want you to know that. I know that you guys jump me on the fucking leaderboard but, like, I just want you to know that if it really is a chunk of rowing into a chunk of wall walks before I have to deadlift, I'm going for it.
Speaker 3:I just got to hope that tie break time is right before that, barbell.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm fucking going Although I can't tell so not to bury the lead here. I'm sure everyone's heard by now, but the rumors are that it is row wall walk deadlift. But then the rumors of what the workout actually is look ridiculous. I can't imagine they're going to put 50 wall walks in the middle of a workout.
Speaker 3:Oh my god, that doesn't feel right you want to see the greatest comeback in history. Give me 50 wall walks in the middle of a workout and then 100 deadlifts at 135 oh my god oh oh, yeah, oh yeah, hunter's back.
Speaker 2:We got him back yeah, don't tempt me with a good time yeah, I mean I went in and looked this, the, the trying to audit like community-wide, like did we do better, did we do worse? Sort of thing is challenging for a bunch of reasons. One, it's a short workout, so like shaving a, what would be a noticeable percentage of, like a huge rep, amrap um, looks like just a few seconds on the leaderboard. So I basically went through and looked at like first through 10th um, that's what I was on the look at on the leaderboard. So I basically went through and looked at like first through 10th Um, that's what I was on the on the women's side went uh, four, 11 to four, 50,.
Speaker 2:Uh, in 2022 to four. 18 to four, 42. Um, so eight seconds faster for 10th place. Um, hundredth place was nine seconds faster five, 40 to five, 31. And then a thousandth place was nine seconds faster 540 to 531. And then a thousandth place was five seconds faster 736 to 731. Problem is, I think that is skewed by the amount of signups. I think that that I think that hundredth and a thousandth is probably faster. I don't think there's probably any much difference on the on the front end there.
Speaker 3:I mean, if there's a smaller sample size, that got faster. You have to assume that if there's a larger sample size, it would probably be even faster. Yeah, that time the 731 goes back not forward right More people.
Speaker 2:Men's side was a little bit different 407 to 431. 401 to 431. I really was hoping that colton got in under the four minute mark based on his video. He blacked out the little, the little piece there, um, but 401 is almost two seconds before he picked up that 135 bar.
Speaker 3:I was fucking embarrassing. He could have had it.
Speaker 2:Could have had a real respectable time I honestly didn't think that scott titlo's time he was 407. I didn't think it was possible to beat that. I should have known better. Um, because colton exists and he's fitter version of scott that's so, so stupid, that's so fast. It really is into the second place by 18 seconds is fucked, it's crazy.
Speaker 3:Watching colton do that workout is like watching like a very fit semi-finals athlete doing fran right where it's like yes, it's just like I have to do 90 reps as fast as humanly possible, I can do the next one. It's just a matter of how fast I go from thing to thing, and dude did that with obviously a much, much more. You know, intensity, volume, skill, difficulty. Like that was pretty impressive to watch, just could not move that super and he also moved super well super clean, yeah every single rep looked the same, really good yep, very true, uh, hundredth place, 510 to 502, so similar there.
Speaker 2:But then thousandth place, 628 to 630, um, and again, I think that's probably more of a measure of uh. I haven't seen the stats on whether the men's signups went down more than the women's signups. I'm not entirely sure. What I really like about this workout is you do a workout in the gym. So take today's workout, for example. Today's workout at the gym here Misfit Affiliate Programming, amrap 13 minutes, 7 burpee box jump overs, 5 strict handstand pushups, 3 hang squat cleans at 155.
Speaker 2:Is that right, hunter? Yes, so here's the problem with the way that so many people view semifinals, crossfit games. They do that workout in the gym, they move through it. They. First of all, you get the time warp. You feel like you're going faster than you are, um, and then that workout would never be programmed. The burpee box jump overs would be 30 inches or 36 inches and the handstand pushups would be deficit or higher rep. Obviously, the squat clean would be so heavy, um, obviously the squat clean would be so heavy, um, but it looks similar to how you feel when you're doing a totally different workout. So people watch it and they see people rest, especially people that don't understand the sport and they want to know why they're not going faster. Like you sit with someone's parents and they're like, pick up the bar and it's like, well, they're in first and they're dying and that thing weighs 300 pounds, like just just let's let's calm down.
Speaker 2:You couldn't so like the. The workouts that are being done at the highest level aren't even possible for general population.
Speaker 1:They can't do them.
Speaker 2:They can't like not, you can't even jump on that damn box. Um, this workout is fun because twice as long as Colton is the fittest person in your affiliate. It's the same exact thing. Yeah, that's when you can start to wrap your mind around. You watch the different things and it's like okay, um, I don't know how many people went on broken on this workout and had decent transitions maybe 10, something like. That's not many. Um, because an unbroken version of this workout's like four to four and a half minutes long and go to the leaderboard. It's not not many of them there. So then it's okay.
Speaker 2:The next thing's probably the bar muscle ups. Probably two sets on the bar muscle ups starts to happen. Some people push the bar muscle ups on the men's side and then drop the barbell, that sort of thing. But you just start to see it's one extra set here, it's one little longer transition here, and you can add 30 seconds to the workout, and then it's like well, I broke the workout out four times, so then you can start to add to it and I just think there's something really cool about the like. It's like kind of accessible, but not really. Yeah, you know what I mean. Um, that gives you an opportunity to see to do this workout, and one of the things that's super fun that I did while I was doing the workout is look at the clock at about four minutes and just be like what yeah, someone's done.
Speaker 3:Someone's done what?
Speaker 2:the's done, what the fuck? I'm cruising kid, I'm not even halfway what's going on here. So I like those types of workouts every once in a while because it gives context, because, again, when you're watching the fitness, I mean even us as coaches. Why aren't they picking that up? Well, it's because it weighs a lot and they've done a lot of work and their heart rate's at 185. That's why that it like weighs a lot and they've done a lot of work and their heart rate's at 185.
Speaker 3:That's why, that's the exact reason why yeah. But it's hard when you don't feel those things. Three and a half minutes ahead of you, like Uh-huh, like you were resting too, you're just, they're just. They're just 5,000 more horsepower into the workout than you are. You know, it's like yeah.
Speaker 3:For no, definitely, I'm glad that it was, I'm glad that we are. I feel like we've gone getting past the point of always having a thruster pull-up finale. Uh, I think it would be. I'd be. I'm I'm very curious to know what this, what this last workout is, and, if it's something that's I don't, when's the last time we had like a long workout to finish, and will we have something longer than you know? 15 minutes maybe not, but um, you know we, you know we don't. We don't usually have that workout. It's usually like a lot of competitions, kind of a sprint to the finish.
Speaker 2:The partition has needed a final. I don't remember, and also.
Speaker 3:I and also. I think that was the first one.
Speaker 1:I think that was 2019.
Speaker 3:I think it was the first or the second, I don't 19.
Speaker 2:Oh, maybe the, maybe the leaked workout is partition as needed. That would make that. That would make way more sense yeah, that would be fun although it would be really rude to do a partition as needed on the rower, Although that's what they did last time, isn't it?
Speaker 3:I'm trying to find that you have to do math.
Speaker 2:It's very annoying.
Speaker 3:I mean it was Everything was partition as needed, right? When was that fucking workout?
Speaker 2:19, 20?.
Speaker 1:Sometime around then.
Speaker 3:That's what I was looking.
Speaker 2:It's not no 1920, sometime around then I was looking.
Speaker 3:It's not no 18th kid type in crossfit, open workouts and go to what is it? Wadwell, wad, something I'm I'm. I hate that website. I don't, I refuse to use it.
Speaker 2:Well, I know seb, you're gonna have to step in no, I'm gonna do this.
Speaker 3:the slowest and least efficient way possible Was it 2020?
Speaker 1:Going to.
Speaker 3:Wadwell. Yeah, see, Seb doesn't even know what the fucking website is. Who's going to win?
Speaker 1:this Dude. I don't even know what a partition means I have to look that up in the dictionary and I think that means like a separation or whatever that means.
Speaker 3:Yeah, no, it was the final 20.5.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I thought it was the final 20 20.5.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I thought it was the final because everyone was like, how long did that take? 20 minute time cap. So, yeah, yeah, I think the fastest.
Speaker 3:I think the fastest were like in the 12s or something like that it was yeah, I didn't 2020.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, I found it. Yeah, see, Nice job, Seb Partition.
Speaker 3:Partition Pat Bellner was 10 minutes on 1009 for second place. Yeah.
Speaker 2:So, 954. Not long yeah we'll see. I'm intrigued, I do.
Speaker 3:That's right. I do just hope that there's an element to it.
Speaker 2:I would not want, I wouldn't want, I don't think I would want a merry-go-round at the end.
Speaker 3:I don't want that some part of it has to be gross.
Speaker 3:I think a chipper makes sense and I do. I think the partition is needed, kind of gives you the, the accessibility of a shitty chipper, where you know when it's like it's, it's kind of it's, it just gets. I got to imagine, from a programming perspective, you want to like it's, it's like writing class workouts, right, you're limited in a way. Limited in a way it's like kind of freeing, where you have to kind of fit workouts inside certain parameters. But when you're programming for 200,000 plus people and it's like, well, like I want to challenge some people to do 20 wall walks, 30 wall, all in a big chunk or something like that, but it's like you know how, how accessible is that for most people? It's like you give them the partition as needed thing, give some little bit of creativity, a little bit of strategy, and so that would be a fun way to finish, as long as it's the right movements, not rowing muscle-ups and wall balls. Those are the wrong movements.
Speaker 2:I think it's rowing wall walks and deadlifts.
Speaker 3:Yeah, see, I can get behind that big time wall walks and deadlifts.
Speaker 2:So yeah, see, I can get behind that big time. You know I. We need uh, we need a fucking cape crusader in this community. If they've been leaking these workouts and you fucking know what they are, you should leak them telling you right, fucking now, that's bullshit. So so last year, the camps that knew about Chad it was literally like a fucking skit.
Speaker 2:The camps that knew about Chad if you were in the arena and you fucking listened to the names being announced, it was all the people in the fucking videos that knew what the workout was, knew what the workout was, they knew how to pace it, they knew how to do the step down, up and over all that shit. And it's just like listen, we need and, and and I get it like it was very clear that certain I think like mayhem and brute knew what the what, what chad was. Um, I can understand keeping it close to the vest, but I guarantee you someone in the media outside of the camps knew and you need to fucking say what it is. Everyone deserves to know. If you know I'm just putting that out there, like if you know what it is and you weren't.
Speaker 2:I'm not saying obviously you should. You should be the leaker. But once it is leaked and you know that other athletes know things and it doesn't matter as much at the open level. But it doesn't matter, for there's just. There are people that it matters for, there are people that care. Yeah, well, I mean like.
Speaker 3:I mean it just it reduces the credibility and the integrity of the, the establishment as a whole. Right, it's like no, does it ultimately matter? Like if games, athletes know what the open workout is like, no, they're still going to shake out the same way, they're not going to get fitter, you know, and for everybody else, it's like it doesn't doesn't really matter, it matters.
Speaker 3:I think it matters massively for, especially for a sport, that's like struggling for lack, you know, outward, like outright just struggling right now, and it's like the you know that that's, that's a whole part of the spiel, right, the unknown, the unknowable, and it's like begs the question of whose, whose nda needs to be enforced and like or you know what, what the fuck that it is?
Speaker 2:yeah, it's, it's uh, not a great look, I think it's yeah there's too many cooks in the kitchen for sure, like I understand why it gets leaked. There are testers, there's graphic designers, there's media personnel, people standing in front of the camera. All of that stuff has to be done before just kind of is what it is. Yeah, like I know, for me personally, when, when the changes started happening again two years ago, I think of like the way that it was all going to work.
Speaker 2:Yeah, just to the structure and everything, um, with how the semifinals are going to be, how many people qualify. I think it was the year that I went from 60 to 40, a media personnel who signed an NDA told, called me and told me yeah, but again, I believe that they were, like everyone knows, I'm not telling you something that like 200 people couldn't tell you, like that kind of thing. Yeah, basically it was like this is a joke, this is a fucking joke, Like like people know these things already, that sort of deal, so, um, yeah, I just I don't know I'm thinking of and I know that so many people are going to be like this doesn't matter, but we're talking about people near cut lines right now and it was weird, partition as needed, and you had a tester do this for you and you kind of watched and got a feel for it, that sort of thing.
Speaker 2:It's a good chance your first attempt would have more information brought to. It could be your best attempt in that situation. Um, that sort of deal so like and sometimes there's media released by camps that feels intriguingly quick. Yeah, like, like, listen, hey, I don't know what kind of m6000 chip you have, um, but editing and exporting in 17 minutes feels like an interesting amount of time. Um, sure, that sort of situation. So I got, I got seb shaking his head right now.
Speaker 2:I wanted to throw that little nugget in there for you, seb, why aren't you faster?
Speaker 1:come on guy oh, I just think. Uh, I think a 36 minute highly produced video to have been uploaded at 4k on youtube 17 minutes after the open announcement that did that seems a little stuff the standard.
Speaker 2:The standard is the standard. Seb. I want this bad boy on youtube at 330. Fucking polished hunter made me do three 360s while filming last week. If I'm gonna have to spin around like that, yeah I'm running around the gym with the gimbal yeah, I move, then you.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I moved 90 degrees twice with that gimbal. Have any idea how difficult it is to get rings out of a frame and pay attention to what you're looking at on the camera.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, I do that for a living. So I definitely do know, but I didn't know. We had Hunter Scorsese up in Maine. Yeah, you do. Oh my God, don't comment any ideas.
Speaker 3:I might get some confidence. I might start, might start directing kyle and kyle and drew around the gym a little bit. Give it some, give it some flair he's up.
Speaker 2:He's up on the mezzanine like guys, you don't, it's art, you don't fucking understand. Yeah, he's shooting through the ring.
Speaker 1:Give a little perspective yeah, a little perspective gotta like that gotta zoom gotta if I may just say listen, I know people are sponsors and all that stuff, but it's like I know the standard is the standard and all that, but make it a little bit less obvious that you have some perks than anybody else does.
Speaker 2:Wait.
Speaker 3:CrossFit doesn't say, misfit Free.
Speaker 2:Trial. Crossfit's not putting out the code for the Misfit Free Trial Fuck Damn. All right, all about that speed. Is it like how normally we predict the workout here? I feel like our judgment is a little clouded because it's supposedly leaked and it's. Yeah, I will say maybe a snatch after, maybe I feel like there's a debt.
Speaker 3:I I would have, I would have said a deadlift. I thought wall walks would be a good retest with the for the community. So I'll take, I'll hang my hat on my deadlift and wall walk, although I yeah, rowing makes sense, I, but, yeah, I think little little clouded judgment at this point. Um, yeah, I like. Yeah, I mean, I like I like the deadlift in a wall walk, whether that was for the second workout or you know, or for any of them. I thought I think those are like good community workouts, good or good community movements, like classic crossfit type stuff that everybody should be able to play along with at the affiliate level. So I think that that makes sense. Not surprising that if that is the case, it's the case. But yeah, partition is needed.
Speaker 2:That makes a little bit more sense, and maybe I missed that. And whoever posted what it was? Someone posted it and it was like you see it seb on instagram. By any chance you see someone post the workout, I don't remember how many calorie row. It was I. I saw 50 wall walks, 100 deadlifts. I won 35 um and then there was a calorie row.
Speaker 3:Stop fucking smirking hunter, cut it out come on, three rounds for time got it easy um, all right, we're gonna.
Speaker 2:We're gonna skip ahead here uh live chat. What do you boys got? What's going on?
Speaker 3:yeah, standby, I'll give you the update here uh taylormadecom.
Speaker 2:Log in While Hunter is looking up his golf Situation.
Speaker 1:I found the link that you were talking about. Sorry yeah, it was 50 cow row, 50 deads at 225 For men 155.
Speaker 3:Even better.
Speaker 1:For women 50 cow row With 25 wall walks For a 10 minute cap. Hold on, I thought that's a different leak, can?
Speaker 2:you say that again 50 Cal row with 25 wall walks for a 10 minute cap Hold on. I thought that's a different leak. Can you say that again?
Speaker 1:10 minutes. I got this from Reddit so it might not be accurate, but that was the quickest thing I've done Jesus Christ.
Speaker 3:The cesspool of the internet.
Speaker 2:They know what's up though. All right, 50 Cal row row, 50 deadlifts. Oh, I get it okay, so that makes that makes more sense now 25 while walk.
Speaker 3:Yeah, there's nothing about that workout.
Speaker 2:I'm not into if we could change the order so that I could, um, um, pass Peggy and James on the leaderboard, that would be awesome, Although that's that's. That's given me a little bit too much credit. I need a lot of wall walks in there for those to to make that happen. Um, okay, so anyway back to what's important.
Speaker 3:Um, we have packed. Your custom product is where my, my two iron is currently sitting. So, okay, I was gonna say we settled on the two. Yeah, we settled on the two and we went with. Uh, got over myself a little bit.
Speaker 1:She's a little chunky, uh most driving irons are meant to be that hybrid-y it's.
Speaker 3:Uh, yeah, I mean it's. It's called the driving hybrid, basically the pdhy is what it's called.
Speaker 2:So you know it's gonna make your golf game better, but someone's gonna talk shit on the t-box it's, it's well, I mean, it's a, it's very much an iron.
Speaker 3:It's just a little bit like, given, given the two options that taylormade has, which one is a little bit thinner and I would say like more appealing to the eye um is probably just not like for the purposes that I want to use it for. I check the ego a little bit and I'm happy to use something that's a little bit chunkier for for the people could control that fucking thing.
Speaker 2:It would be in a lot more bags, yeah, like a flat two iron.
Speaker 3:Yeah, and I heard scotty shuffler likes to likes to see a little bit of meat behind, uh, but on the back side of his driving iron.
Speaker 2:So if it's good enough scotty like to see a little meat, I get it yeah yeah, and I mean he and I are, I don't know, comparable.
Speaker 3:I'd say in yeah, potato, potato, potato, tomato, right, so yeah yeah, that's that's more accurate yeah, potato tomato yeah, so we're, uh, we're looking at that to arrive, I mean, hopefully after course is open, mostly just because I'm very hopeful that we're not that far away. But uh, there is still some snow on the ground, which is displeasing to me. But here we are.
Speaker 2:Yeah, here we are, so I know people tune into this to hear me talk about sports.
Speaker 3:For the most part I got to give the salute to my boy, marshy Brad Marshan, nose face killer, the greatest rat in Boston sportsoston sports history, I'd say you've seen some of the memes of like brad marshall meeting his new team and it's like the ratatouille, like looking up at all the other, like rats, like oh my gosh.
Speaker 2:It's like there's a lot of the fact that the fact that because isn't that the place where they throw the rats on the ice?
Speaker 2:the idea that the idea that matt kachuk and brad marshall are on a team where they throw rats on the ice the idea that the idea that matt kachuk and brad marshall are on a team where they throw rats on the ice is kind of beautiful. Um, but as of the last few years, fuck the florida panthers, not a fan. So, like true bruin legend. Um, go back and watch yourself some some game seven against vancouver if you want to see what kind of fucking legend this guy is kissing the guys on the other team. Um, that was that year, I believe. Um, just just the, the fucking man. So that was. That was a massive bummer. I don't know what the hell is going on with the bruins. They had one of the best coaches in hockey. They fired him mid-season.
Speaker 3:They traded a bunch of people away they gotta be just going head first into the rebuild.
Speaker 2:They traded yeah, you, just when you got a guy like pasta, it's like can we, can we, can we be quicker with this? Um, yeah, that's kind of my, my segue to what's his contract um, we got we signed a huge contract. Yeah, we got three, maybe three, four more years with him.
Speaker 3:I don't see them letting him go, but my yes that's fucking such a fucking troll oh, so good, it's so good because everybody who is his teammate says he's like the best teammate ever. Everybody who plays against him even in like interviews and stuff you can really teammate, says he's like the best teammate ever.
Speaker 2:Everybody who plays against him, like even in, like interviews and stuff, like you can really tell that he's just and you can understand that too. Like I was listening to a an interview with brady kachuk and they were like how how are you, this guy and that guy and he's like I don't know, like, like, apparently he's like absurdly polite and super nice and like a great dad and a great teammate. And then he gets out on the ice and he just wants to punch people in the face and like he's like I don't, he's like I don't even really know, I don't notice it when it happens, but I'm not the same human being on the ice, I mean his dad's, keith kachuk. So that lends a little bit of an idea into how that could be possible. But um, that's my segue into not wasting and ruining tj watts career. Um steelers traded for dk metcalf hunter. Not sure if you know who dk metcalf is. Uh, very good, wide receiver.
Speaker 2:Is he the one we were?
Speaker 3:seeing, just he's. He's a bet. He's an NFL vet, right, he's not? Yes, like a recent draft pick, okay.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, he was. He was, um, probably at his best when Russell Wilson was at his best. Is he the one?
Speaker 3:Sherb tried to chase down in the airport when we were on our way to the games. One year we like walk past him. I don't think so. Remember who I'm talking about. We walked past somebody in.
Speaker 2:Oh, detroit, we saw James, we saw James, harrison, james.
Speaker 3:Harrison Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, walk past him. One of my favorite.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:He was going into the lounge, so DK got traded to the Steelers Fantastic. What is hilarious is potentially the two most volatile personality wide receivers in the NFL are now on the same team, so that's partially scary. I don't know if Pickens and Metcalf will get ejected in the same game this year. Dickens and Metcalf will get ejected in the same game this year. There are rumors that the Aaron Rodgers to Pittsburgh deal is basically done and that he gets released officially on Wednesday by the Jets and then they can sign him. But as far as I can tell, because Darnold's off the board, we are down to Aaron Rogers or Russell Wilson. Um, Aaron Rogers 41 years old. Russell Wilson plays like he's 51 years old Um, so I'm real excited about this. Also marginally confusing, their offensive coordinator basically just wants to run the ball as much as possible. Um likes to have a running QB, but Justin Fields signed with the Jets. So I guess all I'm saying is football is bad, Are?
Speaker 3:we excited for Aaron Rodgers as a Steelers fan, or are we just like? This guy is 41 years old.
Speaker 2:I think that it should be mandatory that they do hard knocks if Aaron Rodgers, george Pick pickens and dk mccaff are all on the same team. Like, if you're gonna make me go through that, I want access, I want to get in the room, I want to see whatever the fuck is going on. Um, I'll end my sports rant by saying the steelers had ben rothlisberger, levion bell and antonio brown on the same team and at the time we didn't know there wasn't as much media, there wasn't as much social media. This could be as volatile as that, which is saying something um, that was, that was a fucking room of people. Um, so I don't know. I guess Mike Tomlin's up for the challenge and he just basically goes one or two games over 500 and loses the first game of the playoffs every year. So let's do that again and have it be more entertaining.
Speaker 1:Yeah, fair enough it's kind of exciting, though. If you get rogers and you have pickens and metcalf, you can throw the deep ball all game and you know two of those guys are ready to catch it at any time so yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:I mean a lot of people are saying this is the ideal situation for Russ because he likes to launch the ball up in the air, but he's ah, the experiment just hurt a little bit. He's not a stealer. Aaron Rodgers, on the other hand, the whole rumor is that he's like I'm going to keep talking about sports. You guys, we'll see you next week if you want to leave, um, the rumor is that the second later after the achilles tear is where you really bounce back. First year's kind of tough. He did look decent towards the end of the season, but like the games didn't matter and no one fucking cared. I will say that his ego is close to unmatched and everyone thinks he sucks. And I think he wants to just come back and be like still got it and then leave, is my guess, um, but he better have a damn good offensive line if he's going to do that, because he can't fucking move anymore. We'll see it's going to be entertaining you can get Daniel Jones.
Speaker 2:I mean, if you don't want, if you don't want Aaron Rodgers, don't fuck with me, seb, like Danny Dimes there was a rumor it's like Arthur Smith loves Daniel Jones and how well he runs the football and I'm like guys, we can't go one game over 500 every year forever. Like they refuse to rebuild. So we'll see. We'll see what fucking happens.
Speaker 1:We lost Hunter. We lost Hunter. I think it's time we just yeah, yep, all right.
